So today I have been inspired to do a post on interior design!
As a current and future art student design has always been my forte and I have always known that design is where my future lies.
Throughout the past I have always wanted to have a say on how the design of the family home is and if i'm honest I am very controlling with it too haha.
I usually decorate my bedroom every year even if its just a tweak such as painting a single wall a different colour or adding a different design element to the room.
Currently I am loving a neutral palette such as greys or creams for a wall and then adding a splash of colour that is easily changeable depending on the time of year :)
At the minute a lot of bright colours such as reds, blues and yellows are in fashion and will add depth to any room. You don't want too much of the colour as it can be very overpowering. You just want accents in order to compliment the room.

The use of the cool greys against this brightly patterned wallpaper gives contrast to the room which then draws they eye to the focal point of the bedroom (the bed) without the need of artwork.
| LOFT |
I have this "LOFT" lettering above the alcove just because well i'm in the loft so why not really plus I do think it looks really cool and it is not very overpowering in the room so therefore subtly ads texture to any wall space in the same way a painting or a print would (the sign is from chiltern mills.)
I then just have matching yellow curtains to match the yellow in the bedding. this ties the two sides of the room together nicely. I also have a pebble rug on the floor, I find a rug gives a homely and cosy feel to any room with laminate or wooden floor. My bedroom furniture is dark wood so I feel that I need to use light colours where I can in order to keep the room feeling light and airy.

Treat yourself
James :)
